Long Live Smash Melee at EVO

After 5 years of EVO in Las Vegas, Nevada, Super Smash Bros. Melee is no longer in the lineup. I feel the sadness and betrayal the Melee community feels. As a non-Melee player, it still looks weird not seeing it as one of the main games.

Either way, you will see Melee as a side tournament and I can assure you there will be plenty of people showing their support for the game.

This legendary game has withstood time since its release in 2001. I remember playing it at family functions with cousins (items on) and it was fun enough for us to play for hours. Fast forward to 2019, it still has a cult following that makes new fighting games jealous.

This very moment was inevitable. We all saw it coming sooner or later. We just thought it was going to be later. This 18 year old game is now at its adulthood. It’s time to accept the fact and make way for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Nintendo made a bridge for Melee players and Smash WiiU players with Smash Ultimate. EVO’s decision yesterday reinforces Nintendo’s plan.

HELP ME! It won’t even take a minute.
